Kuala Lumpur Church Holds 3rd Sunday Service in June: Blessed Are the Peacemakers

On June 21, 2026, Kuila Lumpur Immanuel Church held its third Sunday service of the month.

Pastor Samuel Chang delivered a sermon based on Matthew 5:9 titled “Blessed Are the Peacemakers, for They Will Be Called Children of God” and he highlighted the biblical definition of true blessedness, identifying “peacemakers” as the genuine sons of God in a world fractured by hatred, jealousy, and war.

The Meaning of Shalom
Pastor Chang began by reflecting on the profound longing for shalom (peace) throughout Israel’s history. Facing constant occupation and hardship, the Israelites viewed peace not merely as the absence of conflict, but as the restoration of a world shattered by sin.

“Our God is the God who brings peace,” Chang explained. “He intends to restore this broken world into a peaceful one, and the Bible assures us that those who actively participate in this work are the true children of God.”

The Nature of True Peace
Addressing the distinction between worldly peace and divine peace, the Pastor warned against “temporary peace” achieved through violence or suppression. Instead, he pointed to the peace of Christ—a peace that existed from the beginning and was restored through His sacrifice.

“Jesus became the bridge between God and humanity,” Chang said. “Just as He reconciled us to God through His death, we are called to be bridges of reconciliation in this world. Whenever we work to restore broken relationships, we are acting as the true sons of God.”

The Root of Conflict
Identifying the source of discord, Pastor Chang cautioned the congregation against the influence of Satan, whom the Bible identifies as the “father of lies” (John 8:44). He explained that lies are the primary tools used to sever relationships and foster dissension—a trait explicitly listed as detestable to the Lord in Proverbs 6.

“Satan’s goal is to split and shatter,” Chang noted. “Whether in the community or the church, where there is dissension, there is the presence of lies. We must recognize that the Sons of Light are distinguished by their commitment to unity, not division.”

The Power of Humility and the Holy Spirit
The sermon concluded with a practical challenge: true peace is found through the power of the Holy Spirit, which manifests when individuals choose to lower themselves and serve others.

“In the church, unity is possible only when we open our hearts, listen to one another, and humble ourselves as Jesus did,” Chang emphasized. “Arrogance breaks peace, but humble service builds it. If we act as instruments of unity, we fulfill our calling as peacemakers and become the people who truly reap a harvest of righteousness.”

Pastor Chang urged the congregation to make peace a daily pursuit, calling on them to reject the ways of darkness and instead proclaim the Gospel of reconciliation to a world in need.
